Improving Environmental Impacts
Pawhaoa was granted an Environment Award in May 2013. We intend to continue with this high standard in years to come.
Enviro-Gold was evidence that Pawhaoa has achieved the pinnacle of responsible tourism practice.
At the time of the award being granted it was said:

Paradise – This is a beautiful place to just relax and take in the beautiful surroundings. The beach is pebbly with great swimming right in front of the Villas and one can walk up into the hills or kayak out in the bay or just relax in the lovely environs. Claire and Bill have plenty of local knowledge that they are more than willing to share. Highly recommended.
Highly recommended for a wonderful getaway – We stayed there recently over New Year. The setting is stupendous from the rolling hills behind to the sunsets over the Bay. Lots to do if you are that way inclined or you can sit back, chill and just enjoy

Pawhaoa Bay Lodge acknowledges that we are placed in a blessed, unique and natural environment of great beauty and ecological and cultural value.
We are committed to conservation, sustainable use and enhancement of our immediate, local and global environment for the present and the future.
By:
- Minimising our footprint through building design, colour, solar water heating, and sophisticated effluent disposal and tree planting.
- Non use of toxic sprays, and using biodegradable and eco friendly cleaning and bathroom products.
- Composting all food scraps and other degradable matter.
- Comprehensive recycling of paper, cardboard, plastics, metals wherever possible.
- Advise , educate and discuss our policies and methods with guests, staff and others.
- Participate in and support Community Group and Environmental Projects in our area.
- To actively pursue and monitor our progress in reducing energy use, water and waste production
- To actively pursue our policy for an environmentally friendly and sustainable Accommodation Business.
- Ensure that none of these activities compromise our delivery of quality service and standards of care to our guests.
